This Ballet is Nothing You Would Ever Expect. They Came, They Danced and Made Everyone Laugh!!!

Grace, beauty, harmony, perfection, synchronicity- are the first things that come to mind, thinking about ballet. Well, this production is way different. Choreographed by the legendary Broadway director, “The Concert” stands out from all the ballet performances you’ve seen before. This comic ballet about the perils of everybody was originally produced by Broadway in 1958. It is amazing that “The Concert” is still making people laugh. It is very hard to combine classical dance with humor and not overdo it. Performed in Monte Carlo by Vienna State Opera Dancers: Laura Nistor, Anita Manolova, Ezter Ledan, Franziska Wallner-Hollinek, Marta Drastíková and Ludmila Trayan this piece gained incredible popularity among viewers on YouTube. Please, enjoy and share this video with your friends, it is quite amusing.

This ballet was made to Chopin’s music. If you enjoyed this piece, I recommend you to watch the whole performance. It is about a mad ballerina, living in the world of music, neglecting the outside life. This ballet is a great unusual piece made with the finest taste and sharp humor. It is timeless. No wonder Jerome Robbins has 4 Tony and 2 Academy Awards, multiple other awards, three Honorary Doctorates, was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame and the National Museum of Dance’s Mr. & Mrs. Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney Hall of Fame. He was a genius with an incredible taste. Jerome Robbins created over 60 ballet and musical productions, such as Peter Pan, West Side Story, Funny Girl. His last project was Les Noces for City Ballet in 1998. Two months after the premiere he died at the age of 79. His legacy lives on with his Foundation and The Jerome Robbins Award, which is presented to greatly outstanding persons or art institutions.
